VLCC, Middle Easts premiere beauty, scientific slimming and preventive healthcare brand is urging the UAE residents to observe Anti Obesity Day on November 26th. To put up a united fight against the surge of obesity in UAE, the company has already embarked a month long Anti Obesity Drive which started on November 14th across various establishments across UAE.
During the announcement, Mr. Mukesh Luthra- Chairman of VLCC Group said that, Twelve years ago, VLCC took the first step of putting up a united fight against the issue of obesity. With the active involvement of the medical fraternity, VLCC designated November 26 as the Anti Obesity Day – which is observed every year across 8 countries where VLCC has its presence including India UAE. The Group drives a mission led awareness campaign to promote its anti obesity principle. The underlying message is that an individual can choose to say no to the obesity issue by instilling discipline into ones lifestyle – and enjoy its benefits.
Our campaign focuses on creating awareness amongst the general public on developing healthy habits for an active lifestyle through dietary recommendations, activities and simple lifestyle tips. Overweight and obesity are major risk factors for a number of chronic diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Once considered a problem only in high income countries, overweight and obesity are now dramatically on the rise in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in urban settings. With this comprehensive drive, VLCC is attempting to not only tackle the huge onslaught of the ailment in UAE but to also change societys behavior towards healthy living, added Mr.Luthra.
VLCC leads the effort with a series of initiatives that include public service message using health camps, workshops, mass counseling, mass media and distribution of special literature. A pioneer in the scientific slimming domain, VLCC has led and supported numerous initiatives that work towards promoting awareness on healthier lifestyles. To further strengthen public awareness on the Anti Obesity Day, this year VLCC will also be organizing carnivals across the malls in order to reach out to the masses and educate them on obesity and the associated risks.
VLCC will also organize a panel discussion among industry specialists and a skip-a-thon in December in UAE, to further drive home the Anti-obesity message.
