Please tell us about the inspiring journey of your brand SaralVigyan? What were the ups and downs which you faced through pulling off your brand?
We started as an online content company in 2014. We later realized internet is full of similar and specialized content and has its own limitations. That’s how Saral vigyan Classes (In Short we call SV Classes) were born in May 2015. We setup our first classroom at Kharghara residential suburb of Mumbai. Initial days I did rounds of Newspaper vendors at 4 am for leaflet inserts and supervised banner placements .
Through our First Batch of students we observed that students appearing for their HSC and SSC exams did not have clarity of even grade 8thconcepts and we realized idea of Unit Based Learning@ Saralvigyan Classrooms has a great Potential.
We added two more locations Kamothe and Vashi, Navi Mumbai later.
Actually your brand has a very interesting name? Was there any specific reason for this name if yes, what was it?
Saralvigyanis derived from Saral +Vigyan, Saralvigyanis about logic based structured learning and make science learning easy and fun. Saralvigyan was born out of the fear children have of science and math because of their poor conceptual understanding of these subjects.
What is the USP of your brand?
We ensure children don’t mug up their science or maths topics like ancient history; we help them learn the fundamentals. Unit based learning is our motto. We have segregated and arranged the curriculum from class 5th to 12th into components we call concepts, enriched with videos and images. We have interlinked and indexed these concepts so that common topics such as “Light”across standards is readily referenced.
More than content we help students engage with the topic than rush them through textbook exercises .Focus is not on filling up their answer sheets rather clarify the concept. We help them absorb the knowledge.
What are your expansion plans and future prospects regarding Saral Vigyan?
We look forward to grow nationwide and have a structured services/support framework provide best tutoring. Going forward we should be preferred choice of our students.
What kind of training and support do you provide to your franchisees?
We call them partners. We would like our partners to be business owners without having to worry about deliverables, delivery or buyer acceptance. We work with them every step of the way including resource mobilization and parent’s engagement through centralized response management and knowledge transfer effectiveness monitoring.
What are your thoughts on the Market that you provide your services to?
It’s a great market though crowded but with lot of space for right type of service providers. Segment is cluttered with unorganized service providers and some big brands with fat pockets .Creating online tests or content is one part of the story ,In hindsight I realize we always had access to quality knowledge base. Transferring that knowledge to every student is where the challenge is .
Where can you see your brand Saral Vigyan in the next five years time?
We look forward to engage 50 K students across formats in next 5 years. Technology changes fast and we look forward to learn and evolve better systems for knowledge transfer.
What are your thoughts on the Education sector in general sense?
Looking back at my school days, it seems we have not progressed much in past 30 years. Students still fear science and math. They still fear trigno-metery much as I used to though it’s very simple and fun subject if one has grasped geometry concepts. Maths expects you to work with set of axioms and you can solve any problem, however complex that be.
Back in 89 when I cracked JEE it was not a mean task for a tier 3 small town boy and it is still not. I would love to make things simpler within Science and Math’s learning realms.
