Gitanjali Lifestyle plans fine dining & spa foray

gitanjali_logoGitanjali Lifestyle planning to enter the spa business, specialty cosmetic and perfume stores, mini-theatres and a chain of fine dining restaurants. It is the retail arm of Rs 5,000 – crore branded jewellery major Gitanjali Group. For starters, Gitanjali is already in joint venture talks with two European spa operators. It’s also exploring acquisition opportunities in the fine dining space.

Gitanjali Lifestyle operates 148 stores across India over some 0.5 million sq ft. This includes exclusive brand stores for its jewellery brands such as Gili, Asmi, D’damas and Nakshatra, Italian cutlery store Greggio, multi-brand luxury watch store Bezel, and departmental stores under Maya, among others.

Gitanjali Lifestyle plans to roll out a chain of mini-theatres with the latest technology in satellite distribution. These theatres will have some 150-odd seats and only a few numbers of screens, even one screen in some cases, unlike a multiplex.

The group is also planning to extend its frontline jewellery brands like Nakshatra and Gili into perfumes, bags and fashion accessories. It even has plans to make a mark into private labels in these segments as well as apparel and wedding fashion.
