CavinKare plans to take its beauty salon, Trends in Vogue (TIV), across metros and second tiers in India, with setting a target of 350 salons by 2015. As announced by C K Ranganathan, CMD of CavinKare, the decision is made in the backdrop of beauty salon market that is maturing in India, and flourishing ever since it became part of the organised sector.
The beauty services market in India is valued at Rs 7,000 crore annually and growing at a rate of 20 per cent. “Our beauty salon chains have made estimated revenue of Rs 50 crore this financial year, added Ranganathan.
“We have aggressive plans for the beauty salon business and plan to expand rapidly across markets — some will be company owned, while others will be given as franchises,” he said.
TIV had 110 outlets across India and a majority of them are in the South. The expansion will be done with the current portfolio of brands Green Trends and Limelite.
CavinKare had added over 50 franchisees within a year of franchising and many of the franchise owners are interested in signing up for a second salon. “We have a plan to start a beauty college and offer a course on degree standard,” he said.
“Consumers are looking for the best, especially when it comes to health and beauty.” said R Gopalakrishnan, Business Head, TIV.
