In Conversation with Mr. Jahhaan Khuraana, Director of Roti aur Boti restaurent share the growth of his Brand in India. expanding the footprint in tier II and III towns, as well as overseas forays on the back of their new marketing strategy.

Q.ENLIGHTEN US ABOUT THE BIRTH OF ROTI AUR BOTI.

There will be moments in your life when you have to make decision that can only come from listening from the deepest part of your heart and you will certainly have those moments if you decide to venture out and try to do something new and it’s not about how many years of experience you have .its about the quality of your years of experience. So my concept of roti Aur boti originated from Doha , when I visited the country ,the concept of Shawarma is very well known n famous in Doha since then I took it from there and then conceptualize and started it here. In a world that is changing really quickly you need to think out of the box.
Q.WHEN WAS IT STARTED AND WHEN DID YOU OPT FOR FRANCHISING?
As rightly said the earlier you start the more time you have to mess up. I started it at a very early stage of my life in the year 2009 .one another reason to conceptualize this set up was its uniqueness, so way back in 2009 Shawarma was not a known concept and thought to set up , so for an entrepreneur , the biggest risk is not taking any risk. I opted for franchising in the year 2013.The reason to opt for franchise route is that it is the best way of expansion of your business helps in building a team , option of expanding fast as well .

Q. HOW MANY OUTLETS DO YOU HAVE AT THE MOMENT?
We have three outlets in Delhi one in Uttar Pradesh one in Goa and one in Hong Kong too

Q.WHAT IS THE UNIQUE SELLING PROPOSITION (USP) OF THE BRAND?
The USP of our brand is our name ( Roti Aur Boti) which itself is very unique. The USP of the product differentiate it from their competitors such as lowest cost , highest quality or the first ever product of its kind What you have the competitors don’t. Shawarma is a Lebanese fast food with pita bread or rolled up in a flat bread together with veggies spices and herbs dressing include tahini hummus sumac onion etc served with mayonnaise or hot chilli sauce, we are one of the oldest makers of Shawarma and are the only one serving six different types of Shawarma. Way back in 2009 the concept of Shawarma was a rare and unique, so what we serve our competitors don’t we provide the best Shawarma in town at a very decent price, we deal in 6 different kind of Shawarma.

Q.WHAT KIND OF BACKEND AND FRONT END SUPPORT WOULD YOU PROVIDE TO YOUR FRANCHISEES?
Any good franchise company has developed a method of doing business that works well and produces successfully result. Even better they are required to provide you with great deal of information. Roti Aur Boti is a well known name in the market but behind it, there is a plenty of hardship and ideas which has now turned it up to a brand. We started our journey in 2009 with our first outlet and since then we never looked back. We used to call it ‘ Shawarma outlet’ earlier as we serve the best Shawarma . With time we have expanded our menu and people loved that too. In the next five years we see our brand creating an IPO and giving all the people who are associated with our brand a new high, this is the time to invest in our brand as we are moving towards the target of selling equity in the period of five years
