Devyani Food Industries will invest RS 275 crores in order to enhance the capacity , retail expansion, research and development and market activation of its icrecream brand, Creambell in India. The India Icecream market is of Rs 3500 crore. Creambell has a market share of 15 percent in the icecream Industry. Amul has the biggest market share and it is the market leader in icecream segment. Creambell targets to increase its market share to 18% by 2020. The brand has also planned to enter into new states, after expanding quite well in Gujarat, the largest icecream market of India.
Creambell has three manufacturing plants in India- Baddi, Goa and Kosi Kalan. Creambell competes with icecream brands like Amul,, Kwality Walls, Mother Dairy, Vadilal. The company will focus upon strengthening their presence across Gujarat. Ahmedabad is considered to be the top market of icecream in Gujarat. Creambell will also increase its presence in various cities of Gujarat like, Baroda, Rajkot, Surat and rest of Gujarat, as per told by Mr. Nitin Arora, CEO, Devyani Food Industries. The brand has very limited presence in Tamil Nadu, which they will launch in the next 2-3 years. The brand will also increase its hold in icecream market of Kerala.
Apart from domestic expansion, they are likely to expand internationally in Uganda, Kenya, Zambia and Tanzania.
