Pollo Tropical, the U.S. based, Caribbean-inspired fast-casual restaurant chain has signed master franchisee agreement with Delhi based Paramount group under their associate company Paramount Cuisines Pvt. Ltd, with which the brand with make its first formal entry in India.
The first Pollo Tropical restaurant is opened at the DLF Place Mall, saket, in New Delhi. The formal inauguration of the restaurant was done by the Minister-Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy, John McCaslin.
Inaugurating the first Indian outlet, Minister-Counselor, John McCaslin said: “Franchising is an emerging concept in India, and the United States is proud to be able to play a role in facilitating the development of this growing industry.”
Speaking on the occasion, Paramount C.E.O. Manjit Singh Saini said: “Bringing Pollo Tropical to India has been the culmination of an inspiration drawn from the growing demand for food that is healthy and tasty. The segment catering to health conscious foodies is lacking and with Pollo Tropical, we seek to bridge this gap with an innovative new cuisine that is new and unique to the Indian food market.”
As part of their expansion plan, Paramount Cuisines will open at least ten Pollo Tropical restaurants in The NCR, Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana.
Pollo Tropical, a subsidiary of Fiesta Restaurant Group, owns and operates 95 locations in the United States plus four licensed restaurants located on college campuses in Florida. The company has 33 international franchised locations in Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago.
