French fashion brand Celio eyes more expansion in India

France-based fashion brand Celio is drawing its retail expansion plans across India. The brand is also moving up its brand’s strategy In India. “Celio International had applied for up to 100 percent equity participation in India. This investment proposal was accepted by the government. This will result in a gradual increase in Celio International’s share in the India JV”, as mentioned by Rajiv Nair, CEO, Celio India.

The French brand is already having exclusive 36 stores and present in about 110 shop-in-shops and with Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Pantaloons and Central as its departmental store partners.

The brand plans to open more exclusive stores across the country. “We do not have any MBOs at the moment and all our exclusive stores are managed by us since we haven’t taken the franchise route. We hope to add at least 12-15 EBOs per annum for the next three years. We will also grow our shop-in-shops by adding 20 stores per annum,” says Nair elaborating on the plans. The brand is also available online now through Shoppersstop.com.

“Celio is a brand with tremendous potential for the Indian market as it is a product inspired by the streets of the world and is not rooted to one culture,” opines Nair, adding, “The range is colourful, something that Indians love and Celio fits are some of the best. “The range is designed by a team of 60 buyers and designers in Paris. The products are sourced from around the globe and the brand makes 38 million garments an year for the global market.
