Reliance Retail launched its second cash and carry store, Reliance Market, in the country, in Bangalore on Wednesday.
The first cash and carry format from the Reliance Retail stable was launched in Ahmedabad. The 50,000 sq ft store will cater to the needs of local kirana traders, small businesses, hotels, restaurants and offices with a range of regional, national and international brands.
The company said that the store would have a collection of over 8,500 products, both food and non-food, with a large proportion of these sourced locally. The assortment ranges from fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, detergents and toiletries, staples, groceries, stationery, footwear as well as electronics and IT products.
As the format caters to traders and other businesses, one needs to have a business license issued either by the government, municipality or panchayat to become a member.
Randall Guttery, CEO, Reliance Market, said, “Reliance Market is built to offer inclusive growth to all our kirana partners, by sharing the benefits of our strong sourcing capabilities and our relationships with a large network of vendors.”
The company said that it’s able to offer low prices to its members as it operates on extremely high volumes and low operational costs.
